The “not so secret” Secret

I’ve been absent in my writing lately. Mostly because we’ve had so much going on. Moving to Hawaii to chase your dreams, is all fine, beautiful, amazing and dandy. But it sure is exhausting! Needless to say, it’s been a growing experience to say the least. Anyway, since I haven’t been around to write lately, I wanted to share a fellow blogger’s post. It is beautifully written! I mean, come on guys, this stuff just makes sense. Life is short. You’ve gotta do what you love. Be happy. Don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s only cliche because year after year people have been saying the same things over and over. WAKE UP AND LISTEN! The answers are right in front of you. It’s like the everyone is wearing drunk goggles. If we all just calmed the waters and paid attention, the truth, the way and light to true happiness are glaringly obvious.

The Better Man Project ™

It’s not about catching up with the world, it’s about creating a life full of love and passion and having the world catch up with you. The times of having to mold ourselves into someone or something we aren’t are long gone – in fact, this may be one of the greatest lies of humanity. The belief that you have to fit in to lead a worthwhile life is a facade that shades your eyes from the truth. In many cases, it may feel that you have to be the cool person in order to gain the respect and appreciation of others, but let me tell you from personal experience – if you go out into the world, declare your purpose, and do something really ridiculously cool with your life, people will take notice and give you real respect. Respect for doing what you love and bring new ideas into…

Are you a doer?

Don’t be a talker. Be a doer.

I take that back – dont be JUST a talker, be a doer too!

Reasons it’s good to talk about your dreams:

1) People will hold you accountable “Didn’t you say you were gonna quit smoking?” “Didn’t you say you were gonna apply for that job?”

2) You gotta put it out to the Universe. Think about it, envision it, talk about it – all of those are actions that will become reality! Just don’t forget to go out and do something, you can look at pictures of paradise, wear your bathing suit and talk about the beach all day long, but until you buy a plane ticket you’re not gonna get there.

Back to life, back to reality

For everyone who went to their “paradise” for Memorial Day weekend and who is now heading “back to reality” – I ask, why? If you would rather live in paradise than where you currently waste away your existence in a daily grind of traffic and 9-5’s – why not make the change?? Make paradise your new reality. (Here’s a secret – society says its not possible, but it is…)

Go on, make a move!

Albert Einstein once said “Nothing happens until something moves.”

So if you are out there wondering why you’re dreams hadn’t come true, why haven’t met your future husband or wife, or why you spend most of your
life working a job you despise – DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Yes it’s gonna be hard, and yes it’s gonna take effort; anything worth doing always does. But don’t be lazy, there’s no time to be lazy – life is too short!

“There’s always gonna be another mountain, I’m always gonna want to make it move” – Hannah Montana

Yes I quoted Hannah Montana, she made a good point ; )

Moving a mountain is a journey, have fun! Step out of your comfort zone. There is so much out there for you!

You decide

In light of the fact that I am running away into the sunsets of Hawaii and chasing my dreams of making a difference in the world, I have had many opinions expressed to me about my actions. The opinions that occur the most are as follows:

A) That is great! Go for it! More people should chase their dreams! – often followed with, “I wish I could live in Hawaii” – to which I always respond “why can’t you?”

B) How are you going to do that? Do you have a plan? Do you have a huge savings account? You don’t even know what you’re doing. You’re not being realistic.

Or something to that effect…

I just watched an AMAZING documentary called Happy.
In it is talks about the old phrase “Money brings happiness”. The documentary then goes on to explain that money only brings happiness when it provides the basic essentials – food, clothing and shelter. Once you’ve passed the basic essentials, it has been show time and time again, that continued and growing happiness does not coincide with your bank account.

For those who won’t chase their true dreams because they think that having a high paying job will bring them happiness instead – think again!

“We are put on this planet only once, and to limit ourselves to the familiar is a crime against our minds.” – Roger Ebert

The article The Four Engines of Life-Long Success by Philip Humbert goes over what really makes the successful, successful. Where you’re from, what you look like, how pretty you are, how tall you are, your race, age, gender, family history are only 10% of the equation. That leaves 90% completely up to you!

You are going to die tomorrow

You are going to die tomorrow. You will never see your family again, but they will continue to celebrate holidays together after you are gone. You will never hang out with your friends again, they will find new friends after you are gone. You will never get to play catch with your dog again, but hopefully someone else will.

The outfit you bought at the mall yesterday will never be worn again and your savings account never be spent – at least not by you. The car you drive will stay where you last parked it, until someone else gets to use it to get from point A to point B.

The fight you had with your girlfriend yesterday will not ever be mended. You will never get to prove that you were right. Not that it matters. Because you will be dead. Your ego will be gone. You will have nothing left to prove. In fact, you will have nothing left. But the world will go on, traffic will still be there on Monday morning. Food will still be cooked and eaten. Everyone will still be going out on Friday night. But you won’t be.

But if you did it right, your memories will live on. People will remember your smile, and your positive attitude. Hopefully. Or will they remember your grumpiness? They’ll remember all the things you did for others. Or will they remember your selfishness? Others will continue to live a long and happy life because you took a moment to care and to make a difference. Or not.

Tomorrow You, as the world knows You, will cease to exist and all that will be left is your energy. It will spread with the wind until it clings to and becomes another life form. Will your energy pollute the world with hate and anger? Or will you bring smiles to everyone that feels you blow across their skin, as they are comforted by a random feeling of joy and love?

You are going to die tomorrow. What will you do today? How will you spend your last hours?

And if by chance you do not die tomorrow.

Make sure you read this again.

My husband and I are moving to Hawaii to open a Krav Maga and CrossFit facility. We are going out there not to chase worldly pleasures of paradise, but with a single focus of helping as many people as possible. Through helping people, helping them live a healthier lifestyle, giving them the gift of peace of mind through self defense, and volunteering both our mind and our physical strength to making the Island a more beautiful place, will we find our happiness. Our plan is to positively help and impact as many peoples lives as possible for the rest of our days on earth. We are going out there to abandon the rat race that society says is normal, in a quest to begin to truly live.

We have been fortunate enough to run a Krav Maga/CrossFit business for the last 3 years in Austin, TX and are ready to open our own now!
